Project 04 proposal

Fieldwork and Research Based Practice Proposal

My investigation into a topic related to  the University of West Florida will be the property it leases on Santa Rosa Island.  The topics of my research will be into the history of the property since UWF acquired it, the past and present activities that happen there, maps, the birds, plants, aquatic life and aquatic plants that are present on the property and surrounding areas. There will be numerous avenues of approach to gathering information and documenting these for my project.
The possible sources of information on the UWF property will be inclusive of the following. I will begin my research from the people suggested to me in class. These people might provide an insight into research that has been completed on the property. The Pace Library will be a great source of diverse information. Using the library and people on campus I should be able to come up with other possible sources of information.
Once I have completed my research there will be numerous trips to the property to observe the present conditions. The conditions will be documented using an iPhone camera and a GoPro 7 black. The collection of objects found in the area will include sand, asphalt, stones, shells, branches, and trash left by others. Some of the images and objects collected will be used in the final composition.
My final product will be composed into linear web pages. The individual pages will document some of the results of the research I have completed. Some of the pages will contain images found in my research or images I have taken.  There may also be some pages that use my skills in Photoshop to create a composition of numerous images. A storyboard of images is also possible. Hopefully I will not discover any trash/debris left by others. Depending on the amount of trash I pick up and remove from the property, I will construct a composition using these materials. This will be documented by photographs and or video.  Should there be a sufficient amount of material, which again I hope there is not, I will create a 3D piece of art.

Library Research Seminar
Our day at the library was very informative and I feel that it will be beneficial to all research that needs to be completed. Hillary Fox and Britt McGowan provided a very informative and interactive program. They answered questions put forth. The told us about the plethora of information available at the library and through interlibrary loan. They demonstrated how to do one search on the library home page, and how to fine tune your search in order not to get 1,000’s of  possibilities. They told us about all the non-book items that are available for checkout, inclusive of GoPro, laptops, regular and digital cameras. They let us know the basement is a great place for research as it is the university archives. Dean Debolt is in charge of the archives. On the top floor you will find Skylab. It houses 3D printers, book scanners, Apple and Windows based computers. These computers have mapping software, adobe creative suite and more. The library has a geodata center, which has USGS maps inclusive of topographical maps.
The information provided will aid me in my research by using the archives in the basement, the USGS maps and one search for the printed resources. It is good to know all of these resources are available to the students.

Reflections on the Edge Effects essay.
Everyone should not take their surroundings for granted. When you look at a landscape there is more to see then what you think. All you have to do is to open your eyes. Look up, down, behind you, far away from you, close up to you, to your right, your left, from a Bird's Eye view, and even under your feet. As you walk or drive around the UWF campus have you noticed there are no overhead lines. This observation allows you to draw the conclusion that all the utilities are underground. Makes for a lot of less visual noise and more pleasant surroundings. If you look at a landscape comparing the different time of year, you notice there is a stark contrast in the landscape during the different seasons. Even historical maps can tell a new story about the landscape. Another thing to observe is all the different geometric shapes. You will be amazed at what you can actually see when you take your filter off.

3D Tinkercad

I found this program fun to use. The learning curve was definitely not as extreme as the  HTML project.

Mine is complete and sent to be printed.

I am excited to see the end product.

Good Morning Everyone,

I have completed Project 2. In class critique was Monday 3-5-2019. It went well.

I am now working on advancing my skill set and project 2.

Looking forward to creating a design to be 3D printed.

Hope everyone had a great time without any Monday homework.

I am ready to solder my light component together.
